    • Caregiver Needing Help to Help others

Sometimes it takes an unexpected event to unveil a very significant roadside safety need for drivers of personal Wheelchair accessible vehicles (WAV).

When a friend drove his WAV vehicle to the local grocery store and returned to the parking lot to find that the van had a problem that required it to be towed back to the dealership…….. This situation put a spotlighted on the question of …………..How does the person requiring wheelchair transport find a ride home after their vehicle is towed back to the dealership for repairs? ………..

In this situation it was 20 degree weather getting dark out and he lived about 2 miles away from the location the van was towed away from. He drives a rechargeable electric wheelchair. He is unable to transfer into another vehicle from his wheelchair and lives in an area where there is no WAV Uber or Lift services and dealerships have no WAV response vehicles or plan that helps out in this situation!

He ended up driving his electric wheelchair back to his home. Thankfully the situation ended safely but truly reveled a HUGE NEED for SAFE ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE for people driving independent WAV vehicles.

My hope and plan for helping to resolve this situation is to develop a non profit organization that will provide a solution for the individuals who drive WAV vehicles. By developing a WAV owners association that drivers of the WAV vehicles could join. The plan would be to build a national website where WAV owners can access if they find themselves in this sort of need. When you are stranded without a ride you would be able to type in the zip code where you are located and the website will locate other members or dealerships who choose to participate and also drive or own WAV vehicles in your surrounding area, providing a way for those who completely understand the situation need to provide help and assistance to each other. As a caregiver to those who drive and need WAV vehicle transportation I also plan on being an active part of the website and “response plan” responder. I would love to own a manual WAV van that I would be able to use to respond to help those who find themselves in need of assistance.

The development of this plan however not only will involve startup costs but also website building knowledge and abilities beyond what I am currently able to independently provide. If there is anyone out there who is willing to help with developing this plan through donating website building skills or help with financial assistance please reach out to me.

I have many years of experience driving and transporting people in many different types of WAV vehicles and trained in safety procedures and appropriately securing wheelchairs for transportation.

Please feel free to respond in the comments or contact me directly.

With Respect, Hope, Joy and Love, Carmela

    • “Stop Talking”

Posted at 9:54 AM by carmelasnelbaker
      May 29th

If you allow Him to, God will lead you to where you need to be, and open your heart and mind to what you are supposed to hear at the exact time He wants you to Hear it.

I suppose there are many different ways that people receive messages from God and possibly my way is the “care giving way” but I must tell you I wouldn’t want it to be any other way!

Life can get crazy in caregiving. The responsibilities for the safety and well being of another weighs very heavy on me. Caregiving work is like no other, in the fact that, if your scheduled relief does not show up……. you are not going home. I have been in many situations that staffing issues were that bad that I drove 8 people to my home to pick up my high school aged daughter and brought her to work with me, incase the overnight staff did not show, and I needed to also work the overnight. My company was ok with this and my daughter was the most awesome volunteer staff they could have ever asked for! In later years she referred to that situation as her “Wyatt 101” experience. My belief that God plants us where we need to be at the time we need to be there (if we allow him to) is enforced even more by her comment.

My latest “blessing messengers” have once again stole every ounce of my heart with their fun and quirky Conversations, Responses and Wisdom. Every one of them has responded to me with what I needed to hear with perfect timing and execution! It often is quite funny the genuine responses and reactions I hear in my fun filled caregiving days!

      “stop talking”

“there will be no more yoga”

“isn’t it funny that you were born in the same year…(insert some random historical fact I was never even aware of)”…

      “I Love you, Carmela”

“we’re taking the red car on a boat ride, and then my mom’s gray car on a boat ride….”

“Dave Saville said the chipmunks have to go back to the woods……chipmunks can’t go to school”

“stop that…..there will be no more funny!”.

I have always found that when “non-work” related areas in my life start becoming worrisome or stressful the “work” area ALWAYS stabilizes me, keeps me going and makes me smile!

My life has always been truly blessed by where God sends me. It may never appear to be the most sensible economical option and often times I am running ragged and sensless attemtping to balance 3 different jobs at once and keep my sanity, but in the end it ALWAYS ends up giving me spiritual clarity and genuine heartfelt Peace, Joy and Love for others.

Life can only be as joyful as you choose to make it. Our experiences in life may contain tragic losses and difficult events to endure and often times what feels like sensless encounters, but if the challenges result in stepping back and seeking Wisdom from the pain it will end with lots of Love, Peace and a genuine appreciation for those God has placed in your path to support you when you most needed it!

God offers us choice. God is Love. Our Choice cannot include anything but Pure Love. The only way to understand Pure Love is to (as my special messengers tell me….lol) “STOP TALKING”. Shutting off all the noise of the world, opinions of anyone other then God and Love…. brings us to Pure Love For Others.

Pure Love For Others takes emotional human anger away and Gives You Peace. Actions of LOVE not Anger COME FROM GOD.

Pray for others, do not put judgement on others.

Judgement toward another human being is NOT a choice any human or GROUP should make!

Lifting others in prayer, asking and listening for God’s Wisdom is what will bring PURE LOVE AND PEACE TO THE WORLD.

Pray for others. Pray for Pure Love and Peace for All.

With Respect, Hope, Joy and Love, Carmela

    • Share Motherly Love

Mother’s Day can sometimes be difficult. My mom died many years ago, even though her influence and memories are with me everyday I still do miss her presence.

I was awakened this morning by a phone call at 6AM to the most enthusiastic “Good Morning, Carmela”. It wasn’t because it was Mother’s Day…… Just a day that she was able to reach out to me by phone. I can’t really share details but even though it was a happy conversation and it TOTALLY warmed my heart and made my Mother’s Day complete! I am sitting here crying so hard…. Her struggle with mental health is real and I wish so badly there were easy fixes for such difficult problems! Please pray for everyone who struggles in this world with difficult situations.

      “May you be happy,

      May you be healthy,

May you be free from danger,

May you have ease of Well Being.”

To ALL the women who have touched a young hearts in a positive loving manner …… You are awesome…..

Mother’s Day is about Love………. Happy Mother’s Day to you……….The world needs LOVE

With Respect, Hope, Joy, and Love, Carmela

    • Enough “When Arguing With A Stupid Person Make Sure They Are Not Doing The Same”

Posted at 10:56 AM by carmelasnelbaker
      Feb 8th

Every second of Life is filled with a multitude of  wise quotes educational studies and varied opinions of how we can improve ourselves. One could spend countless hours trying to absorb and understand the perfect way to find happiness and Joy.

The entire time we are researching, digesting and ruminating the many different human opinions on how to live an optimum life filled with Joy the clock continues to tick away and the precious moment of Joy are falling through the hour glass as we study.

Then someone says something that is drastically in contrast to the peaceful existence the “seeker of Joy” is attempting to understand and develop. The manner in which we respond to this says it ALL. As a seeker of Joy and peace if we become enraged by the comment and at the person who communicated it we loose our focus and we can easily be pulled into the vacuum of despair that will most assuredly do nothing but steal the joy of the present moment and add to the chaos and anxiety in the world.

Peace and wisdom is attainable only after we deescalate agitated emotional feelings that come naturally in human behavior. As human beings we all want to feel safe and have our opinions respected. We learn by doing. We also learn by the mistakes we make. We have more things in common with each other than we often realize.

Both sides are at fault when there is a disagreement that is not handled in a respectful manner. I was given a very helpful bit of wisdom from a church sign once many years ago…… “When arguing with a stupid person, make sure he is not doing the same thing”.

It is a common narcissistic human reaction to want to be heard and have your opinion respected, when you feel you are not being heard or your point is not being taken seriously the narcissistic response often turns to aggressive language and maliciousness and personal attacks to show power. It is a vicious circle that will never result in a peaceful resolution.

Meditation brings awareness that is available to us all from deep within. It may be referred to in many different ways but the common denominator will always be Love. Stillness and Meditation will connect you with Internal Universal Wisdom. The inner voice I like to refer to as the Whisper of God.

We will all react at times “Humanly” and with emotions however, we need to forgive each others slip ups and begin again to listen for the word of God to lead us to a better reaction……. (this example came from a book I read once long ago, A Life Worth Breathing)… imagine if you were in a car accident…. You are laying along side the road with torn clothes and bleeding. The ambulance driver arrives jumps out of the ambulance and responds emotionally…….”Oh MY GOD, you are in horrible shape! This is going to be hopeless, no-one will be able to fix this”. No one wants something like this to happen.

Remember to focus on the moment in front of you and not worry about the imagined moments of the future. We can waste many precious joyful moments when we fantasize, strategize, and organize for the imagined disasters in the future.

Life is better when we build one another up instead of tear each other down. Teach each other and be willing to learn from each other. Children are watching how we respond and treat political figures and this is how they will believe it is acceptable to treat all humans.

Be confident that as individual souls living an earthly experience we have enough internal wisdom to get us through our Journey here on earth. Never forget to Be Still and listen to the Higher Wisdom within you instead of responding emotionally from your human ego. Lets not be that ambulance driver with nothing but alarming words proclaiming our demise.

It is possible to voice one’s opinion without calling the person with the opposing opinion a derogatory name. When we express ourselves with respect we promote a peaceful enviornment. By responding offensively to an oposing opinion we are teaching our children it is acceptable to call people derogatory names, antagonize others who believe differently than you and cause division instead of promote unity and peacefulness.
