    • Be That Someone Who Makes Someone Else Look Forward To Tomorrow :)

Posted at 5:00 PM by carmelasnelbaker
      Sep 12th

There is nothing more enjoyable then being with someone who is just simply fun to be with. Someone who refuses to be pulled down by the negatives of the world. Someone who takes on the challenge of lifting the spirits of a group of people who are heavyhearted.

Like the photo above, they simply seem to be filled with a natural Joy and they cannot contain the positive energy. With the lightheartedness of a hummingbird they seem to buzz, zoom, zing and zip around with an urgency that is mesmerizing and can’t help but bring a smile of admiration to others.

Some days we are not able to escapes dealing with challenging moments during a lifetime. I like to believe God introduces us to people who we need to help us get through life’s journey. When our spirits are low and  a person who has overflowing energy and joy enters into our path, perhaps it is not simply a random joyful encounter but quite possibly an intentional Divine Blessing placed along the path of a difficult day.

Enjoy each smile that enters your day. Be grateful for each encounter of overflowing Joy, and return the favor to others on days when your Joy cannot be contained.

      See

      Miracles

      In

      Life

      Everyday

    • If We Can Choose Our Demise I Want To Go Out Like This Cat ….. :) Taken By Curiosity

      via Daily Prompt: Learning

With the quiet ticking of the Grandfather clock in the background as I sit here and contemplate the Daily Post Word prompt of the day, it brings a bit of a smile to my lips. I am not sure when I first heard the phrase “Curiosity killed the cat”, but I do know that it was something that my dad said to me often.

I wonder now if he was saying it as a caution to me. It seems that I have a very natural personality trait of unending curiosity as well as a fearless unstoppable urge to stop at nothing when it comes to advocating or improving a situation for those in need.

In reminiscing  on the many life lessons I have lived through and learned from. I must admit that the “obligatory response trigger” my heart seems to have, has been known to disturb the calm in my life at times. When I cause my own life disturbance because of reaching out to improve things for others, after the dust settles I am always glad I did.

So I suppose knowing my inner instincts and personal history, if my Dr. had psychic abilities and could foresee my future “I am sorry, it’s curiosity” may very well be a diagnosis I could one day hear as well.

I could think of worse ways for a life to end though. If I say goodbye to this world helping another soul, or learning or teaching a positive lesson of Love, I choose to believe it would be a good thing.

So I am with the cat on this one!! Keep looking for answers. “Be Positive”,”Be Brave” (as Wyatt would say) and never stop asking questions, making improvements and being curious. 🙂

    • It Is How We Tackle Managing Our Load That Makes All The Difference…..Daily Prompt: Carry

Posted at 11:51 AM by carmelasnelbaker
      Aug 16th

      via Daily Prompt: Carry

Everyone on earth will encounter some sort of burden to carry. Weather it is a difficulty we were born with or one that has met us somewhere along the way on our journey in life, either is no worse than the other.

It is how we tackle managing the load that makes all of the difference in the world. As humans we often look through eyes of comparison. When we loose focus on our own journey and purpose we cause ourselves troubles.

If we cannot see, we learn to survive with the senses that we have. If we cannot hear we can learn to thrive as well with the senses we do have. We cannot compare our life with no site with that of a person who has site.

We must be grateful for the gifts we are given. Learn to use them to the best of our abilities and support others and their God given gifts as well. It is in showing this level of respect for others that we honor our own selves and learn to thrive in the contentment that life is meant to bring us.

When we give thanks for the gifts that are present and learn to honor and respect the gifts of our peers it is then that any burden we are asked to carry is lighted for both. In sharing and supporting we find peace and contentment.

When attempting to disguise our difficulties and compete with others our struggles will only increase. We can only shine in honesty and truth. God Loves us exactly the way we are, and we need to learn to loves ourselves that way as well.

Never try to be a person that you were not meant to be. Simply be you. Be truthful. Be kind. Be loving.

With Respect, Hope, Joy and Love,   Carmela

    • When You Don’t Have a Pool And It’s Hot You Simply Make Due With What You’ve Got :)

Posted at 2:35 PM by carmelasnelbaker
      Aug 15th

Life is not easy…….But it doesn’t have to be so confusing

      Focus on what is important

Always view your glass (or bucket) as half FULL and not half empty

      Think Positive

Find solutions that are available to you

Pray for wisdom and positive loving solutions and act on what you feel is right

This post was inspired from the daily prompt challenge confused

      dogpool

      ONE COOL DOG

When you don’t have a pool and it’s hot

You make due with what you’ve got

Two front paws are cool, while the back one’s will dual

For equal time at a shot

I cannot dive in, and immerse myself

Like those with lakes or ponds

The flip side of this, that I should not dismiss

is of fish and mud, I’m not fond

This day in review, is a blessing, it’s true

for I’m safe and cannot drown

So I keep my chin up, and tell those who snicker

I choose to only see the blessings in life that abound

    • Don’t Worry Be Happy :)

Posted at 9:41 PM by carmelasnelbaker
      May 15th

I decided to share a blog post from 3 years ago. Today the Daily Post Challenge was the word Healthy.

I have always found great enjoyment in my pets whether small or large pets they put joy in my days. I found an article on the WebMD site that states 6 ways a pet can improve your health. I will include the link here so you can read the details. A healthier heart, stress soother, social magnets, Better mood/more meaning, benefits baby’s immune system, and social support for autism, is a quick rundown of the reasons.

I hope you enjoy my very short but fun movie of Hallie when she was a baby. She did a lot of traveling as a Therapy Lamb this is the reason she is wearing the diaper, I am sure we had just returned from our travels.

Hope this post gives you a smile:) If gave me a much needed one!

    • A Blessing’s 12 Year Reveal

Posted at 3:35 AM by carmelasnelbaker
      Jul 10th

In November of 2000 I was dropping someone off for an appointment at a therapy facility. As we walk into the appointment we seen a young lady walking a dog. A smile, hello and a gentle pat for the dog lead to a pleading request: “Please, Please, Please take him home with you! They are going to take him to the pound today. My Counselor found him and can’t find his owner.” She pleaded.

My dad came to mind. He was grieving the recent loss of his dog and he lived alone since the death of my mother several years before. I decided to follow-up on her request and ended up bringing the dog home to my dad.

      cool dog

The meeting with my dad and my newly acquired dog was perfect! Just as though it was meant to be.  He walked in and sat right beside my dad’s chair as if he belonged there. I left them and later talked with a friend on the telephone explaining it as if it was a heartwarming story straight off the “Oprah” show. “He’s a blessing”, I said with amazement. “He walked in and laid down beside dad’s chair as if that space was always his home. It was surely meant to be!”

The next morning, I return to find a happy pooch, a very grouchy dad, with an angry command, ” Take that dog right back home with you! He is too much puppy for me! I’m to old to clean up after him!”

Completely stunned at the disappearance of my “perfect Oprah moment” I make an attempt at a last-ditch effort to keep it in tact with, “But daddy, he’s a blessing!” I pleaded. “Well, take the (*$&#) blessing right back home with you!” he repeated, even louder and meaner! And so I did!

Being the loyal animal lover I am, my blessing and I retreat home to re-plan our future. I made a phone call to a  friend and we mused on the shocking turn of events the day brought. “What are you going to name your new blessing?” she asked.  After throwing out some silly possibilities. “Maybe you should call him Thank You” she chuckles.  And so I did.

The name Danka (German for Thank You) was my choice. Many  silly, fun, stressful, frustrating, and loving memories with Danka filled the next 12 years. He traveled with me to work. Absolutely loved and appreciated the people who I took care of. He proved himself to be the most loyal and well-trained “un-official” service and therapy dog possible. He not only earned his status as a blessing in my life but also in the many lives of the people who I took care of.

12 years later when Danka and I move in to live with my aging father. The now much older Danka once again took his place beside my dad’s chair and in the following year  began to travel less with me and willingly took up a new life of “retirement” beside my elderly dad. He quickly became the “apple of my dad’s eye” sharing meals with dad, and following him loyally from room to room. We often laughed at how my dad’s influence on Danka even turned him into a Bill O’ Reilly  fan!

Seriously every night at eight o’ clock Danka would settle in on the couch, put his chin over the arm of the sofa so that he could watch the O’ Reilly Factor.  Dad commented to me numerous times, with a chuckle, that my sister and her husband “had Danka a nervous wreck.” he would say.  They visited with dad past eight o’clock and they were sitting in Danka’s chosen viewing spot!  Danka would get up and pace nervously around the couch. When they finally rose to leave “They didn’t even get to the door before Danka got up and reclaimed his favorite spot and began watching The Factor!” My dad was convinced that he could tell that Danka was genuinely upset if they caused him to miss the “talking points memo”!

I am convinced that Danka’s story and life hold many important lessons however, the message that I hope Danka’s story leaves you with is this  ” If you think that you witnessed a blessing like Danka…. believe it and be loyal to it (no matter what happens) in time it will most definitely be revealed.

      3-4-2009_002

My dad has since pasted away and about a year later his and my, most loyal friend Danka passed away also.  I am wholeheartedly thankful for each and every moment I was able to share with both of them!

I continue to consider Danka one of my most favorite blessings,  perhaps the day that I met Danka  as well as the years that followed are best explained as Divine Guidance.

With respect, hope, joy and love,

                                Carmela
