    • Caution…… proceed with care ❤️ and respect

I believe I must be feeling many of the same things a majority of Americans might also be feeling but afraid to say for fear of offending a friend or being ostracized for having a different opinion then someone else.

Life in America has changed significantly and in my opinion…… I most genuinely dislike the road we are on!!!! I am completely aware that “in current day America” when you express an opinion that differs from another person it is very common for people who think differently then you to now “place a label on you and call you “a hater” …… for daring to express your opinion!

It doesn’t matter how or why we ended up at this point…… what truly matters is continuing forward this way seems so foreign and “un-American” to me.

I am quite aware that our history as Americans was never perfect and discrimination, hate, and division was very much an active part of our history….. possibly because I was very young when it was happening, my exposure was limited and my parents were not “inflamers” constantly discussing only one very opinionated mindset or view (like what is available today with 24 hour 7 days a week opinionated televised coverage).

I am totally at a loss for why our past division felt less scary to me then our current division does….but what I do know for sure is that my career choice for caring for people…. Has taught me love for ALL regardless of cultural upbringing, religious believes, political opinions, physical appearances, physical or mental abilities. We NEED to be WILLING TO SEE THE PERSON FIRST! We need to get away from division by “NOT LABELING PEOPLE”…….. choosing sides or dividing into groups.

Even if you feel extremely devoted to your Christian faith it is imperative that we love all people and pray for them. As a Christian I have complete faith in the power of God and feel I should never be judgmental of other human beings or question their independent beliefs. We can also support and respect people of differing beliefs without believing they are doing something wrong simply because their footsteps may not follow the exact path as the one I may have chosen to follow.

Today’s world seems to want to choose sides and make life into a “competitive sport” atmosphere and thrive on who should “win” or who is the “most right” I find this incredibly SAD we are ALL HUMANS. We all feel pain, we all are devastated by the loss of a loved one no matter what side we are on……and because we are all human we all will sometimes make mistakes, sometimes mispeak, sometimes bleed, feel trauma and possibly speak with emotions over logic…… instead OF LEADING with “chosen religious belief, political party affiliation, or any other cultural belief or “LABLE” we may strongly believe in…….. let’s start seeing each other and loving each other as people first!

Let’s unanimously refrain from labeling each other in descriptive ways, making fun of and excluding those with differences and begin showing respect to all people! Nothing will ever change if we approach life as a competitive sport “label” each other and divide into sides! ☹️

Unity should not be a “power grab” by the richest, the loudest, the scariest or most threatening individuals…… if this happens haven’t we totally lost our identity as the United States…. Isn’t individual Unity of it’s citizens the very distinctive trait that American Identity thrives on?

With Respect, Hope, Joy and Love, Carmela

    • Like Tiny Snowflakes of Hope, Joy and Love Angelic Souls’ Messages Blanket The Earth

Posted at 6:08 PM by carmelasnelbaker
      Jan 6th

The most perfect beauty often happens within a fraction of a moment as one observes the genuine pureness of protective Love one for another. Each taking selfless steps to prepare for the other’s ease of well-being as the future begins to unfold.

Being witness to the message of Hope in what feels to be a Hopeless situations is nothing short of amazing. Being in it and through it myself I am aware the end of life experiences and moments will not always feel positive, hopeful or Awe inspiring. Often they may not be witnessed by those closest but possibly by the “outsider”. I am convinced we are not supposed to be able to figure out why. The most important message is  Every Souls‘ Wisdom and purpose is important and most assuredly it will unfold in the manner it should. Whether it shines through like a billboard or comes quietly much later as a gentle whisper is not what is important. The joint message of many Souls is what brings us Hope.

It is a blessing to be present with a family and witness the gentle unfolding of protective Love in action. Each person, whether a parent, a child or grandchild, or one spouse toward another, going to great lengths to protect the other from undue burden and discomfort in the future.

Each one knowing our earthly journey sometimes causes us to travel some very difficult roads. Each one taking steps to protect the other and assist in making their future journey as smooth and free of unnecessary pain as possible.

When living through the moment as a family each member often silently taking steps and making quiet sacrifices to allow or facilitate ease of burden for the other.

As an outside source of support the complete picture of a families love for each other focuses into a very clear snapshot of perfect love. A Love that takes steps to protect each other from as much hurt as necessary. A love willing to cover up their own pain to ease the burden for the other. A Love that sees through the stoic front, reaches past the facade to embrace and share the burden together.

Each Soul we are introduced to here on our earthly journey carries lessons of Wisdom they may not even be aware of themselves.

In a majestic unfolding of Divine moments of Wisdom each unique lesson will become clear to those it was intended to reach.

Each souls lesson joins with other lessons, and like tiny snowflakes of Love, Hope, and Joy  angelic souls’ messages blanket the earth with the purest message of Warmth and Divine Love.

Like a warm blanket being wrapped around you when you are cold and afraid, let the beautiful blanket of Hope, Joy and Love wrap you and quiet your fears during times of confusion, grief and sorrow. It is then when we feel the continued angelic support and unending Love that our Loved One’s share with us.

With Respect, Hope, Joy and Love,    Carmela

    • The Curve Of A Smile Can Set A Lot Of Things Straight

Through Humor, you soften some of the worst blows that life delivers, and once you find laughter, no matter how painful your situation might be you can survive it. …. Bill Cosby

I am beginning to believe that developing a good sense of humor as a child just might be one of the most important puzzle pieces to a successful and healthy future.ImageEven though we attempt to plan for our future, life has a way of dealing out unpredictable surprises. In the midst of the most sad and serious moments I have had to endure, I like to believe God is the one sending me a silly moment that makes me chuckle to lighten the burden.

As a parent and grandparent I believe It is so important to encourage a child’s sense of humor. Be silly, read silly books with your child, make humor and laughter a part of each day. It is never to late to teach a child to develop a healthy sense of humor. I heard someone say once that a good sense of humor in life, is like shock absorbers are to vehicles. It can take away some of those nasty, unpleasant bumps.  It truly is as Bill Cosby puts it, once you find laughter, know matter how painful your situation might be you can survive it. Be sure to make many fun and silly memories, so your child has many to select from when experiencing a difficult time!

As a caregiver I have seen the positive effects of humor. It can diffuse aggression and anger, as well as turn tears into a smile. It also has a calming effect when someone feels nervous or embarrassed. Small children respond to “Oh no, You must have forgot to put your smile on this morning!” Causing the child to stop and think about getting dressed and physically putting a smile on, just might be enough to redirect the unhappy thought and mood and engage them in a playful imaginary hunt for their lost smile.

A very important thing to remember is humor must never be hurtful or disrespectful. It is possible to recognize funny situations or find humor in a funny story without making fun of a person. I really believe that our “bullying” situations in our schools are simply misguided children, attempting to get people to like them or get noticed by making others laugh, at the expense of another person. I have seen adults with low self-esteem attempt to make themselves look better by tearing another person down and then boasting about their own abilities. Sadly many times they are not at all aware of what they are doing. This is simply what they have felt they needed to do and have been doing it their entire lives.

I found a beautiful blog: Sending Hope  by: Tracy Hodge That speaks of this very issue. She puts it so perfectly that I am feeling the need to share her words. This is how she put it… Great people, truly great people, are not afraid of the greatness of others. They are not intimidated nor are they threatened when others around them succeed or even surpass them. Great people enjoy lifting others up and never mind showing others the way. On the other hand, small people like to be surrounded by other small people. Small people tear others down in laughter and seldom offer a kind word unless it is to flatter someone in their favor. Small people gossip out of jealousy and have no concept of loyalty. (You can read the entire blog by clicking here)

      Holding The Sky

Mother Teresa once said: The fruit of Love is service, The fruit of service is peace, And peace begins with a smileImage

Two very important things to remember…..  Always remember before you put on a frown, make absolutely certain there are no smiles available. and…..If you meet someone without a smile, give them one of yours. You may never know what a positive affect that may bring to the person who has none.

With respect, hope, joy and love,    Carmela

    • Genuine Human Elegance Is A Heart Shining From Within Filled With Divine Love

Posted at 12:38 PM by carmelasnelbaker
      Sep 8th

My heart hurts today. There are children living each precious day of this life with challenges that they bear with so much grace, elegance and strength that is nothing short of miraculous!

Thank Goodness for the Innocence of a child that shines through with a Light that is so profound and filled with the Infinite Wisdom Of Divine Love,  Being Sent To Them Directly From Heaven.

As adults we can learn from their examples of limitless strength and innocent wisdom.

      be-happy-for-no-reason-like-a-child1     dove

We are born with a heart of Innocence and Love.  Somewhere along the way growing up we are taught or begin to question and develop fear.

When we fail to trust and look outside our limited human self for wisdom, we begin to live a life of selfish limitations. We become negative, we criticize and set ourselves apart from others. We see only through eyes of fear. Once we fail to trust Divine Guidance we begin to fret and become selfish.

When we attempt to survive on human wisdom alone, we invite in fear and limitations. A person living in fear and survival mindset will always have a “what about me” mantra, and an animal like response to survive.

When we surrender to Divine Guidance our lives gain clarity. We begin to recognize how much we need each other to survive. Our hearts develop Genuine Love for other humans and recognize our likenesses instead of our differences.

Genuine Human Elegance is a Heart shining from within filled with Divine Love.

~ as Luciano De Crescenzo stated……. ~ We are each of us angels with only one wing, and we can only fly by embracing one another. ~

      fret-about-future

For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.       II Tim. 1:7

It is God who arms me with strength, And makes my way perfect. Psalm 18:32

Angels shine from without because their spirits are lit from within by the light of God. ~Quoted in The Angels’ Little Instruction Book by Eileen Elias Freeman, 1994

Never give into to fear. Always remain hopeful and invite the Holy Spirit to take the lead and learn to trust with your whole heart.

Learn to be happy for no reason, like a child.

There is no amount of elegance as sweet as the beauty, innocence and precious wisdom of a child.

    • If We Can Choose Our Demise I Want To Go Out Like This Cat ….. :) Taken By Curiosity

Posted at 5:46 PM by carmelasnelbaker

      via Daily Prompt: Learning

With the quiet ticking of the Grandfather clock in the background as I sit here and contemplate the Daily Post Word prompt of the day, it brings a bit of a smile to my lips. I am not sure when I first heard the phrase “Curiosity killed the cat”, but I do know that it was something that my dad said to me often.

I wonder now if he was saying it as a caution to me. It seems that I have a very natural personality trait of unending curiosity as well as a fearless unstoppable urge to stop at nothing when it comes to advocating or improving a situation for those in need.

In reminiscing  on the many life lessons I have lived through and learned from. I must admit that the “obligatory response trigger” my heart seems to have, has been known to disturb the calm in my life at times. When I cause my own life disturbance because of reaching out to improve things for others, after the dust settles I am always glad I did.

So I suppose knowing my inner instincts and personal history, if my Dr. had psychic abilities and could foresee my future “I am sorry, it’s curiosity” may very well be a diagnosis I could one day hear as well.

I could think of worse ways for a life to end though. If I say goodbye to this world helping another soul, or learning or teaching a positive lesson of Love, I choose to believe it would be a good thing.

      curiosity-killed-the-cat  newton

So I am with the cat on this one!! Keep looking for answers. “Be Positive”,”Be Brave” (as Wyatt would say) and never stop asking questions, making improvements and being curious. 🙂

    • It Is How We Tackle Managing Our Load That Makes All The Difference…..Daily Prompt: Carry

Posted at 11:51 AM by carmelasnelbaker
      Aug 16th

      via Daily Prompt: Carry

Everyone on earth will encounter some sort of burden to carry. Weather it is a difficulty we were born with or one that has met us somewhere along the way on our journey in life, either is no worse than the other.

It is how we tackle managing the load that makes all of the difference in the world. As humans we often look through eyes of comparison. When we loose focus on our own journey and purpose we cause ourselves troubles.

If we cannot see, we learn to survive with the senses that we have. If we cannot hear we can learn to thrive as well with the senses we do have. We cannot compare our life with no site with that of a person who has site.

We must be grateful for the gifts we are given. Learn to use them to the best of our abilities and support others and their God given gifts as well. It is in showing this level of respect for others that we honor our own selves and learn to thrive in the contentment that life is meant to bring us.

When we give thanks for the gifts that are present and learn to honor and respect the gifts of our peers it is then that any burden we are asked to carry is lighted for both. In sharing and supporting we find peace and contentment.

When attempting to disguise our difficulties and compete with others our struggles will only increase. We can only shine in honesty and truth. God Loves us exactly the way we are, and we need to learn to loves ourselves that way as well.

Never try to be a person that you were not meant to be. Simply be you. Be truthful. Be kind. Be loving.

With Respect, Hope, Joy and Love,   Carmela

    • When You Don’t Have a Pool And It’s Hot You Simply Make Due With What You’ve Got :)

Posted at 2:35 PM by carmelasnelbaker
      Aug 15th

Life is not easy…….But it doesn’t have to be so confusing

      Focus on what is important

Always view your glass (or bucket) as half FULL and not half empty

      Think Positive

Find solutions that are available to you

Pray for wisdom and positive loving solutions and act on what you feel is right

This post was inspired from the daily prompt challenge confused

      dogpool

      ONE COOL DOG

When you don’t have a pool and it’s hot

You make due with what you’ve got

Two front paws are cool, while the back one’s will dual

For equal time at a shot

I cannot dive in, and immerse myself

Like those with lakes or ponds

The flip side of this, that I should not dismiss

is of fish and mud, I’m not fond

This day in review, is a blessing, it’s true

for I’m safe and cannot drown

So I keep my chin up, and tell those who snicker

I choose to only see the blessings in life that abound

    • Have You Ever Met An Iceberg? Is It Possible To Find Emotion Within A Personality That Appears to Keep It Frozen Deep Within?

Posted at 1:53 PM by carmelasnelbaker
      Aug 13th

Many years ago I heard someone speak saying “people are like icebergs, only 1/8 of an iceberg can be seen above the surface. The remainder lies beneath the surface and cannot be seen.”

Many people often keep the majority of their feelings and thoughts deep beneath the surface where no one else can see. The reason why this may be so may vary greatly with individuals.

I have met many people who appear to be trapped within a frozen existence. Their natural internal reactions seem to continue to rise back to the surface and repeat themselves even when it may seem progress and improvement has been made.

I learned from a very special individual that I met and worked with that through attempting different ways of approaching and reaching out, those who sometimes are believed unreachable and often exhibit somewhat mechanical responses can be reached and an emotional connection is possible even when it appeared to be impossible for a number of years.

I met this person in an adult day care environment. He was considered a difficult person to work with. Had very unusual habits. He had a diagnosis of Autism.

When you would first approach him or entered into a room where he was located, a very booming and aggressive voice would shout out “What’s your first name? “What’s your middle name?” “What’s you last name?” After he heard all three of your names, he would then state your full name using only the middle initial.

He did this to everyone who entered. For many years after he was known to remember people who he met and upon seeing them years later he would point at them with his finger and state their full name using only the middle initial. He would follow the statement of your name with a very “cheesy grin” and a giggle.

I found him to be a very pleasant mix of a Teddy bear like happy soul and the Tasmanian devil character that had the ability to trash a room in a matter of minutes if someone simply said the wrong words. He was a challenge and I love a challenge.

For some reason I found myself drawn to the people who others often attempted to avoid and dreaded having contact with.

This person when something or someone bothered him often destroyed things, ran out of the room slamming the door and disappeared often exhibiting self abusive behavior as well.

He had a very threatening size as well and very loud and mechanical type speech. He could write and read. He also had numerous unusual habits or “tic” like movements. He was self abusive by hitting himself in the head and face, stomped his foot, but the most offensive of his behaviors was his urge to spit when he became agitated (he always turned his face away from you and spit onto the wall, floor or on objects)

One of his undesirable habits was to tear up or destroy furniture, and one of my hobbies was doing furniture upholstery 🙂 ! A match straight from heaven… maybe?

My Life’s journey always seems to provide me with both a chuckle and a challenge!

I began to learn, simply by trial and error, how to best communicate with him and avoid an outburst of self abusive behavior and property destruction.

If I would be working on a project next to him in a room, I would notice that he watched very closely to what I was doing. I made attempts at asking him to help me however, communicating with words and attempting instruction would set off unwanted behavior.

I then decided as I was working and he was watching me…. I would simply explain to myself how to complete the job using absolutely no eye contact with him. It worked!!! I could then hand him the tools for the project and he would complete it without problems.

This lead to me being able to instruct him through written notes tacked in place, or working side by side telling only myself needed instructions. He would work next to me and break out into a giggle periodically 🙂

He was able to complete the job that a “tear down” person in an upholstery shop would do ….with the support of my non-interactive play by play self talk 🙂

We had success on other projects as well. Later he became employed by a company that made picture frames. He was asked to do a one step job applying glue to the joint that the next person would then use a machine to join together.

He had the ability to complete the job however, the challenge was he was not able to change his “ways of processing instruction and communicating with people”.

I supported him for a while at his job location. My thoughts and instructions for his co-workers was not to ask him to conform to their ways of working but to request them to adjust their way of communicating to and with him.

The job in the community worked out for awhile. However, on a very hot day…. He became very hot, sweaty and uncomfortable. He left the post in the work area to visit the bathroom….. Somewhere off the bathroom was a shower……He seen the shower….. He was hot…… He undressed and happily showered…….. When it was noticed that his work was piling up, someone was sent to investigate what was taking him so long in the bathroom 😦 ………..Not sure about any further details other than the fact that he no longer is working there.

Although I was very sad that he lost his job….. I knew that there was nothing that I could have done, even if I was there. There is a limit to what we can do for a person. There is a point when you cannot be a persons shadow and assist them by giving yourself play by play instruction on proper work etiquette.

Maybe the lesson in this story is that what may sometimes appear as a positive breakthrough may end in only being short lived fleeting moments of success 😦

I love the man no less and I am a better person from the experience of meeting him!

Always make an attempt to reach past the surface of every individual you meet to try to better understand them. We all live with a heart that longs to be appreciated. In understanding each other we improve ourselves as well!

With Respect, Hope, Joy and Love,  Carmela

    • Genuine Unconditional Love For Each Other….Our Four Legged Therapists

This photo makes me think of the Jason Mraz song.  “Love, is a funny thing. Whenever I give it, it comes back to me.  Animals have a way of seeking out humans in need and filling the emptiness of a heart that is breaking. Pure Unconditional Love the connection of the heart without the spoken word.

At the lowest of times when it appears that all human supports have failed us or we fail to reach out and trust people, Love and Companionship is available to those who need it and it often shows up in the faithfulness and unconditional love of a pet.

Is it the non-verbal ability of pet that gives a person the confidence to be completely honest and “unload” their deepest fears and emotional concerns? The four legged therapist in the photo above even has that eye contact that says “Tell me about your day”.

As a child I was fortunate to have had many different pets throughout my life. I remember each one. The heart connection you make with a pet is a very special one. I also believe that connecting with a pet also gives us a unique ability to understand non-verbal communication.

As we are exposed to caring for a living creature who can not verbally explain what it’s needs are, it is necessary for us to learn by observing the “body language” of the creature to understand what makes them feel happy, content or safe, and what make them feel afraid, angry or unhappy.

I recently had to say goodbye to my elderly dog Bernie who I was blessed to have known, adopted and shared several years of my life with. Bernie was elderly when I adopted him. He was found along a mountain road with no ID and appeared to have been dumped and left to fend for himself.

A friend picked him up, searched for possible owners and turned him over to local lost pet shelter. I called the shelter and after the intake and attempt at  finding original owner was complete, he was officially able to be adopted.

I then adopted him. Bernie was the second dog that I have owned that was found fending for himself on the streets. Both of them were so loving and grateful for love attention and a warm home. Danka’s story can be found here.

It has been my experience that the shelter pets I have adopted seem to have a heightened sense for understanding “life’s difficult days”.

Both Bernie and Danka came to my attention in the middle of my work days, as I was transporting an individual to an appointment. I was not in search of a dog, but I had the ability to take the dog in and acted upon it thankfully, and my life was improved by the experience!

Both Bernie and Danka traveled with me in my care-giving work whenever it was possible and it was as though they had a “inner longing” to give love and appreciation back to people in need. They both seemed to be able to seek out and improve the day of a person whose heart was hurting. They truly were canine miracle workers in my own life as well as many other people’s lives!

I am truly grateful for the dogs that I have been able to share my life with, and when I see photos of loving interactions of true companionship and unconditional love from both dog and human it warms my heart and makes me certain that some dog connections are truly heaven sent miracles in action!

Please say a prayer for people and animals in need of unconditional love, follow your heart even when you are not searching for a dog if they find you (as my Bernie and Danka did) it just might be your heaven sent miracle. Those who give love will receive love.

    • Allow The Drops Of Sorrow To Cleanse The Rage, Pray For Peace Through Acts of Love

Deep wounds cause pain. Everyone reacts differently to pain, some scream in pain, some lash out and try to inflict pain onto others, some stoically endure pain. If we are unable to explain why some individuals lash out so violently, how then can we ever hope to live in peace with others?

My heart hurts equally for all who have endured pain and loss this week. My heart longs to understand why people react so differently to pain.

Understanding the reaction to pain emotional or physical is what could bring peace.

Fear enrages pain, and Love calms pain. As I am writing this I cannot stop thinking of the elderly lady I met many years ago. The detailed story you can read by clicking here. This beautiful lady lived through the murder of her daughter. Her explanation of the events that she recounted to me seemed too unbearably difficult for anyone to get through.

I talked with her about how she was able to keep the rage, anger and unfairness of the hate filled act that took her daughters life from taking over. Simply hearing the series of events she explained made me wonder how any mother could live through such horror and not be consumed with rage and anger. She very simply said it was my faith that got me through it. Her Gentle spirit continued to explain to me that it was not easy but she had many loving people who supported her and she prayed.

This also makes me think of the Amish School shooting and the reactions of the Amish people after the horrific act, in offering forgiveness.

      forgiveness a consant attitude

It is through faith and love from within the heart that cleanses the rage and allows the sorrowful drops that emerge as tears to wash away the need for rage-full acts of revenge.

Humans beings need and long to be heard. Everyone has a story that needs to be told. Expressing our feelings and having another person listen with respect and concern makes us feel valued and loved. When this does not happen our self esteem is compromised. When we do not feel and live with self respect how then can we show and share respect for others and life itself.

It is never to late to reach out for Divine Wisdom Strength and Love. Whenever you feel pain of any kind pray, breath, and Believe in Divine Strength to endure. The answer is never in hurting someone else because you are hurting yourself.

When you give love it comes back to you. Even if you do not feel the love returned from the person you extend love to, your life will still be filled with Love and Peace. No person who acts and gives Love ever lives without Love. Love is multiplies when it is given.

When you are at your lowest and pray for guidance to a higher power outside of your limited human abilities, the strength to act in love will take over to tame the emotional pain and rage.

It is the brokenness of a soul staying stuck within the human confinement of the body, and not looking to heaven for strength and guidance to get through difficult and painful events, that causes a person to want to inflict the same pain they are experiencing on another individual.

Before God we are equally wise—equally foolish.  ~ Albert Einstein

Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. For the Lord grants wisdom! ~Proverbs 2:2,6
